Can I go home now? Or at least
back to Nicaragua? Pura Vida. The Good Life. I think not.
For me the good life would include people smiling back
at me once in a while. Don't get me wrong. There are some
wonderful tourist attractions here. But the culture and
the warmth of the people are not among them. And call
me jaded, call me homesick, but a happy hour with forty
Americans drinking $3 Coronas is not the travel experience
I'm looking for.

Alright, enough whining.
I'm just not special here. I've been travelling places
where a gringo like me is unusual, an oddity. That means
attention, which I'm just not getting here. So call me
spoiled. But I really don't think a smile is that much
to ask. Costa Ricas' natural beauty does make up for any
shortcomings previously mentioned. Active volcanos, lakes,
rivers, waterfalls, forests, jungles, beaches, and lots
of wildlife. Awesome. And so far I've only visited one
quarter of this tiny country.
