Driving to the End of the World
by Mark McMahon

Driving to the End of the World is the story of a dentist who embarks on an extraordinary adventure. When his father died in 1999, Mark came face-to-face with his own mortality. He sold his successful dental practice to follow his dream of traveling and taking pictures. He created a mission for himself— to drive from Tucson, Arizona to Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego— the end of the world. With little more than his truck, Baby Blue, and a very loose plan, Mark took off. What was supposed to be six-month trip turned into a four-year odyssey. He encountered spiritual healers and thieves, ran after women and from police, lived with the Guaymi Indians of Panama, explored pristine jungles, and cheated death so many times it became a running joke. But as he moved closer to his goal, the physical trip transcended into a spiritual awakening— and he realized it was the journey, not the destination, his soul was craving. Mark's example inspires you to follow your heart, ignite the passion inside, and do whatever it takes to live your adventure.

I gotta tell ya, when I first read that paragraph, I wanted to buy the book!

I'm not going to lie to you — I really really want you to buy it.

Here is a brief excerpt from the book:

There I was, with two tourists from Holland and a local guide, trekking through a dense and intense rainforest. After 9 hours on the trail, our packs weighed heavily on our shoulders. Sunlight was fading quickly and we were still miles from our destination. Our guide looked scared. That was not a good sign. The sounds from the surrounding vegetation began changing as the various creatures of the night awoke. As darkness slowly took over I began to feel as if the jungle was closing in on us, trapping us. Not for the first time my brain turned to the thoughts that plagued me at times throughout my adventures, “What the hell am I doing? I could die out here!”
